<p>I have orders in from all around the world, (Italy! Ireland! India! Iceland!) the pre-sale went very well.
<p>
Am sitting surrounded by tubes and printing out labels from morning to night, my usual elves are out on tour and i will get some help in once the prints arrive, they are being born this week in Hollywood. The 4th of July holiday is going to add a little sparkling firecracker delay, but I'll be ready to ship upon arrival.
<p>

<p>
Today is a glorious day in the name of hope and love, #SCOTUS did a good good thing. Amazing, really. I am such a huge rambling fan of love in all its forms, I can't imagine being denied the luxury of shouting it to the world.
<p>
Plus it is miss Holly Gaiman's birthday and my own sweet Husband's as well!
<p>
A few weeks back, while I was in Europe on tour with the Black Keys, Neilhimself sent me a drawing that that clever linesman <a href="http://www.chrisriddell.co.uk"> Chris Riddell</a> came up with. I sat down to take it in fully and felt a little diamond tear form.
<p>
<blockquote>
"A world in which there are monsters, and ghosts, and things that want to steal your heart is a world in which there are angels, and dreams, and a world in which there is hope." -Neil Gaiman</blockquote>
<p>
Chris generously agreed to come up with a version painted in jewel tones, finishing the hope in pure gold. I couldn't be happier with the finished product.
<p>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiyn-boshGF9YkGxfH595nKAQ_770UvcrHQQ3_vBYFAGyqHvAvtBFOKMVqJ02eRomk6z0cMNHWXID5wAvDLLRFop6SI0i2-Xma6_NM4GT0qs8xG4a_4S75oYtRiRHICtJmZNzi6XQ/s1600/gaimanprintSMALLer.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiyn-boshGF9YkGxfH595nKAQ_770UvcrHQQ3_vBYFAGyqHvAvtBFOKMVqJ02eRomk6z0cMNHWXID5wAvDLLRFop6SI0i2-Xma6_NM4GT0qs8xG4a_4S75oYtRiRHICtJmZNzi6XQ/s400/gaimanprintSMALLer.jpg" /></a></div>
<p>
Have you seen his work on the UK versions of Neil's GRAVEYARD BOOK & FORTUNATELY, THE MILK? He's a magician with a keen eye for the curvy humor of life. Plus he was just this June appointed the UK Children's Laureate..!
<p>
We are so honored, grateful and lucky to be collaborating with Chris.
<p>
I have sent the files to my printer here in Hollywood, who promises to do a brilliant job.
<p>
The prints will be 11" x 17" on a buttery creamy velvet stock and I am offering it at $25 for this June weekend. My printer says we should have them in about 8-10 business days, so please be aware this is a pre-sale. I will get them out as quickly as possible.
<p>
These prints will be sold unsigned. A limited edition run of 1500.
<p>
you can order it by <a href="http://neverwear.net/products/brand-new-chris-riddell-illustrates-neils-words-on-hope-limited-edition-print">CLICKING HERE.</a>
<p>
I will put the price up to $38.00 on Monday morning.
<p>
They will come to you in a super-sturdy tube made of recycled cardboard, which you can spray-paint silver and use as a robot arm.

<p>
My first thoughts were for my boss, Neil- I knew he would have his spirit punctured by this.
<p>
My inbox filled instantly with requests from world wide news agents, to get Neil on this or that program, and we politely declined them all. He was not in any way ready to go public with his sorrow.
<p>
I send love and support to the family of this amazing man who was inspired so by THE WIND IN THE WILLOWS, a personal favorite of mine as well.
<p>
My plan is to go back and re-read GOOD OMENS in celebration of his life.
<p>

(St. Patrick heard voices in his head, as we all do from time to time) </p>
<p>for the next three days (until Wed 12:00 noon PST) two of our prints will be on a deep discount. Both will benefit Neil's GAIMAN FOUNDATION which deeply supports the artistic community, as well as helps preserve freedom of speech with organizations such as the mighty @CBLDF. </p>
<p>one: the P. Craig Russell magic of HEARTBREAK HOTEL, a beauty. </p>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPYzDA93I7GgGi7PkUewQApMschbNDRKgOf8USwPVWJ1010WmGFD4leT9nIXFU1rDnUvG93Qzty8AhhrU4R05gv9mia6iDwBjxXB4gIqgt2ZzqoE9IkCJoDlppZ9UT2GldJRkFUA/s1600/PCR1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPYzDA93I7GgGi7PkUewQApMschbNDRKgOf8USwPVWJ1010WmGFD4leT9nIXFU1rDnUvG93Qzty8AhhrU4R05gv9mia6iDwBjxXB4gIqgt2ZzqoE9IkCJoDlppZ9UT2GldJRkFUA/s400/PCR1.JPG" /></a></div>
<p>Neil and Amanda held a show in Tampa, Florida on Valentine's Day this year, 2015.</p>
<p>They asked me to help them with the show print.</p>
<p>We approached the mighty king of the drawn line, P. Craig Russell, to illustrate these mad modern lovers. It's a beautiful piece of heartache history, only available at the Tampa show and here.</p>
<p>They are sold unsigned at $40... for the next few days they will be $20 each.</p>
<p>(i did put up a $5 off code over on the Neverwear page-& on the blog-- do a little digging, if you want to save another fiver)</p>
<p>they measure a glorious 10" x 25" and are printed on a luscious recycled matte stock, my photo does it no justice, I actually inhaled when i first saw.</p>
<p>Our version is the stamped-with-the-Neverwear seal, a run of 200.</p>

<p>order them <a href="http://neverwear.myshopify.com/products/heartbreak-hotel">HERE.</a></p>
<p>also the beautiful IN RELIG ORAN print will be reduced for the next few days, the unsigned version will be $15.00</p>
<p>From the brilliant imagination of Michael Zulli, a full-color rendering of Neil's poem IN RELIG ORAN.</p>
<p>Mr. Zulli is the remarkable artist behind The Wake, Sandman's final chapter.</p>
<p> This is a hand-numbered limited edition run of 750 prints. Print size 11" x 17". will have the official Neil Gaiman embossed stamp on the lower lefthand side.</p>
<p>Before he read the at-the-time unpublished poem in Chicago at C2E2, Neil told us a little story.</p>
<p>Inspired by a book of myths and legends of Scotland by Otta F. Swire, Neil wrote the poem about a doomed saint, IN RELIG ORAN.</p>
<p>After reading some of the stories in the Swire book, he took his dog, Cabal for a walk. </p>
<p>"Sometimes, when you walk, " he said, "your mind goes into rhythms.....I found myself walking to along to the beat of the line: When St. Columba landed at the island of Iona..." </p>
<p> It is a thought-provoking piece and one of Neil's most beautiful word paintings.</p>

I'll leave you with Neil's wonderful New Year words:
<p>
May your coming year
<p>
be filled with magic
<p>
and dreams
<p>
and good madness.
<p>
I hope you read
<p>
some fine books
<p>
and kiss someone who
<p>
thinks you are wonderful.
<p>
and don't forget
<p>
to make some art-
<p>
write or draw
<p>
or build or sing
<p>
or live
<p>
as only you can.
<p>
And I hope,
<p>
somewhere,
<p>
in the next year,
<p>
you surprise yourself.

<p>
Recently, I was at SXSW with the almighty Soundgarden, doing a few shows. Incredible shows, I should say. They did the entire <i>Superunknown</i> album front to back on a rooftop overlooking Austin!
<p>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEidbfIRWBJ5AtgwMFBlqUuarE5FFtRkbwiJyptsl3bmq1oGSMgHPn-bjYplYdV0fNOcQJlsUtbgGvk-RN_vW300z1z4YPxoUQgLEK0fZ6iZ7zMcEZJ70qvHNCOP1aK__HZT0S8vvA/s3200/soundgarden.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEidbfIRWBJ5AtgwMFBlqUuarE5FFtRkbwiJyptsl3bmq1oGSMgHPn-bjYplYdV0fNOcQJlsUtbgGvk-RN_vW300z1z4YPxoUQgLEK0fZ6iZ7zMcEZJ70qvHNCOP1aK__HZT0S8vvA/s400/soundgarden.jpg" /></a></div>
<p>
Two of my (most excellent) runners on those shows were members of the up & coming Minneapolis-based band: <a href="https://www.facebook.com/TheMissingLetters"> The Missing Letters. </a>
<p>
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqQUnV-yKnZHQnn1ZktSWUZRAVxpWYGa4wHCOHAClFCy-t1AsBAtzXBy5lSArrW1ybB5mn8z4kX3Mipw4xkgllrDb0N_jJXIIu9K_1Z8IQCgcZnklBeLxyS7j_-rpja8hRAWtW/s3200/missingL.jpg" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqQUnV-yKnZHQnn1ZktSWUZRAVxpWYGa4wHCOHAClFCy-t1AsBAtzXBy5lSArrW1ybB5mn8z4kX3Mipw4xkgllrDb0N_jJXIIu9K_1Z8IQCgcZnklBeLxyS7j_-rpja8hRAWtW/s320/missingL.jpg" /></a>
<p>
here they are on their way to SXSW.
<p>
I wanted to find out more about what they were up, so i did my patented Kitty interview:
<p>
<b>11 QUESTIONS WITH THE MISSING LETTERS</b>
<i> 1. What is your favorite letter? Which letter would we be most screwed if it went missing? </i>
<p>
<b>JAKE:</b> X, the Xylophone community would be up in arms.
<p>
<b>SHANNON:</b> K….It has smething to do with Japanese Hippos...
and unless you are my sister it might be hard to comprehend…
But trust me it is so very important!
<p>
<b>COLE:</b> T. the most common non-vowel in Wheel of Fortune. Would really change up the metagame if it left us.
<p>
<i>2. How/when did you form your band?</i>
<p>
<b>JAKE: </b> October of 2012. Shannon threw a post up on a local rock Facebook group looking for musicians and I hit him up. After a few months we started adding more people to the band.
<p>
<b>SHANNON: </b> It's not all that interesting of a story...but I can tell you that Mark Zuckerberg played a role in the whole sordid tale.
<p>
<b>COLE: </b>I was late to the party so to speak.
<p>
3.<i> Living in Minneapolis, so rich in music history, do you feel the pull to either coast? what would make you leave the Midwest?</i>
<p>
<b>JAKE:</b> I love the authenticity of the Seattle scene, so that's something I would love to explore further someday. On the other end, New York ALWAYS has something cool kicking, and it's fun to watch what jumps from their melting pot of a music scene. I don't think there's anything specific that would cause me to ditch the Midwest though. When I feel it's time to move along, I'll move along. The Midwest sound will always be my focus.
<p>
<b>SHANNON:</b> More toward the West Coast, primarily because of our influences.
<p>
<b>COLE: </b> Do you feel the pull to the Minneapolis? Cuz it's there.
<p> <i>(interviewer's note: Oh yes, Prince & Low pull me there)</i>
<p>
4. <i>If you could have written one song that exists today in the world, what would it be and why?</i>
<p>
<b>JAKE: </b> Your Time is Gonna Come - Led Zepp. Such a simple tune, but so much power. It's awesome.
<p>
<b>SHANNON:</b> Positively 4th Street by Bob Dylan, I lived through a similar situation that is described in those lyrics.
<p>
<b>COLE:</b> What is Love? Baby, Don't Hurt me.
<p>
5. <i>What sound do you wish to achieve?</i>
<p>
<b>JAKE: </b> My goal when writing and playing has always been about honesty in the music. I want each song to sound like I mean what I'm playing and that my hearts in it, and I want it to sound like four people sitting in a room playing instruments.
<p>For me, some of the most authentic music was the alternative scene in the nineties. All the way from Meat Puppets and Stone Temple Pilots to Third Eye Blind and Eve 6 and so on, there was just such a cool vibe in music rom that time. I tend to try and package that vibe up with a kick of Minneapolis soul and let it ride.
<p>I usually don't write for a specific style generally, but that's the feel I strive for with every song.
<p>
<b>SHANNON:</b> Pure rock and roll. Finding the essence that made Led Zeppelin, the Foo Fighters and MC 5 different from the others
<p>
<b>COLE: </b> The kind that goes BRRRRNNNNGHH. If that makes any sense.
<p>
6.<i> Your favorite thing about touring is...?</i>
<p>
<b>JAKE:</b> The openness of the ride, and the feeling of freedom that comes with knowing you're out grinding with the band to do what you love.
<p>
<b>SHANNON:</b> Being in a smelly van with your brothers and embracing everything from everyone
<p>
<b>COLE: </b>Van smell.
<p>
7.<i> What's the weirdest thing that ever happened to you with a fan?</i>
<p>
<b>JAKE:</b> No Answer
<p>
<b>SHANNON: </b> No weirdness… I really enjoy meeting people. Especially people that like our music. People thought I was weird my whole life…I suppose that's perspective.
<p> All sorts of people come to our shows, and I think that's one of the cool things about what we do… I like to think of a show with The Missing Letters as a coming together place… Where it doesnt matter what your scene is. We (meaning us and our fans) make up our own scene. So if someone wants to come to one of our shows dressed in a green guerilla outfit, thats cool. Not weird. Ya know?
<p>
<b>COLE:</b> I had a really cute girl come up to me once. I got nervous and walked away.
<p>
8. <i>Your band is strongly involved in important social issues esp. missing kids, how would you like your fan base to help?</i>
<p>
<b>JAKE: </b> In any case or situation, just look for your own way to help. With missing children or anything else really, there's always awareness to be raised, and a number to call. Just do what you can personally to be a solution.
<p>
<b>SHANNON:</b> No one tends to think about touchy subjects because they're uncomfortable. We dont think that each of us is a possible victim until it happens to us. That goes for crime, natural disaster or anything really.
<p>
The reality is we all need to be more aware about what is happening in our communities, our country, and our world. The more in touch we are, the closer we are to a solution. Its not hard. Just be aware. Open your eyes and your mind. When I was young I had a classmate of mine named Alexis Patterson go missing. As far as I know, she was never found. It really affected me, as she was there, and my friend one day playing with us at recess, and then the next day... gone. There was lots of TV crews at the school the first few days when everything first happened. Then everyone went away, the reporters were gone, and it was like nothing ever happened… but Alexis never came back.
<p>
<b>COLE:</b> The success of a campaign like Amber alert requires a broad awareness from the public. All I can ask of anybody is to take a few minutes and look over some pictures from their local area It's very much a hivemind effort.
<p>
9. <i>You have one superhero power, name it. </i>
<p>
<b>JAKE: </b>Burritos out of thin air.
<p>
<b>SHANNON: </b>To be like the human torch, because who wouldn't want to be able to snap their fingers and make a flame?!?
<p>
<b>COLE: </b> The power... to move you.
<p>(<i>*interviewer note: did you just quote Tenacious D to me??!)</i>
<p>
10. <i>How do you see yourselves in five years? Where would you like to be?</i>
<p>
<b>JAKE: </b>Part of the fun of music is that I really have no idea where it could take me in any period of time, but I dig that. The unknown is my greatest motivation.
<p>
<b>SHANNON:</b> I want to be successful and happy doing the thing I love the most, and that's playing rock and roll.
<p>
<b>COLE: </b>Shooting off flares and sexing up the ladies; you know? Like men do.
<p>
11. <i>The question we really wished you had asked us is:_____ </i>
<p>
<b>JAKE: </b> Whats for dinner?
<p>
<b>SHANNON: </b>What was your first interaction with rock n roll?
<p>
<b>COLE: </b> Nah, You did fine.

this "swallowing diamonds" project has been so much fun and it's putting me in touch with humans I may never have had contact with.
<p>
this package, bursting with sticker-love, came to me from a previous winner on the blog-
the lovely three-names Anthony.
<p>

even his choice of postage stamps: spot on!
<p>
a geniune moment that made me stop and hold my little red velvet heart in my hand...
or as my British production manager used to say:
<p>
<blockquote>I got a tear in my glass eye.</blockquote>
<p>
So, I was remiss in posting yesterday, I was still in German guitar god heaven.
<p>
I got to spend a day on the Michael Schenker tour, he and his band of merry pirates played at House of Blues on Sunset. Epic evening. UFO has the ability to put me right back into my eighth grade room. Lights out in London!
<p>
Today's diamonds will be a pair of FREE tickets to see Back in Black, an AC/DC cover act, on Friday, Feb 28th.
<p>
AC/DC, I am such a Bon Scott girl. I do find myself humming <b>"dirty deeds done dirt cheap.."</b> far too often. (neckties...contracts...high voltage)
<p>
While in Australia, last year about this time, we went to the big AC/DC owned Cherry Bar, meow!
<p>
please only take these if you can use them.
to win, tell me your favorite AC/DC song!

auction only offered in US of A-- sorry, too much $$ to ship overseas.Kitty Cathttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10678414418125790641noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22357694.post-58857232493276021192014-02-06T12:34:00.001-08:002014-02-06T12:34:03.816-08:00item #36: some double plus goodness from TORI AMOS touritem #36:
<p>
Oh, the wonderful memories from this tour-
<p>
This is the Tori Amos crew jacket from the 2002-2003 US tour for Scarlet's Walk, all hand made in England.
<p>
This is a navy blue pullover, very soft fleece hoodie, supertoasty warm.
<p>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiLwshW6BEAk019EyoAOsaMNjr0SnF632_f5wyAzRCvW4UP_NZUQGLxShi0ldrR-UYqsDigiElSOW-c2A2ofnUsgVBOyVCgYr3AZpIlwzW1Qu02kcTbBzXlusz_xemE-dbr4wrU3Q/s1600/IMG_0362.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiLwshW6BEAk019EyoAOsaMNjr0SnF632_f5wyAzRCvW4UP_NZUQGLxShi0ldrR-UYqsDigiElSOW-c2A2ofnUsgVBOyVCgYr3AZpIlwzW1Qu02kcTbBzXlusz_xemE-dbr4wrU3Q/s320/IMG_0362.jpg" /></a></div>
<p>
Has hand-sewn patches on the back, front and sleeve. The rough sewing is on purpose, meant to be like that, all our jackets had variants...
<p>
<a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=161219087864">EBAY LINK IS HERE.</a>
<p>
I will throw in a Scarlet's Walk DVD complete with stickers, Scarlet's map, lyric chest, postcards-- just missing the music CD in it, someone made off with that--but you probably already have the music, if NOT, you best get to finding it, friends.
<p>
For "Amber Waves" alone, get that album! That was my decompression song forever.
<p>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLyxBb-GYZsDc_8gLoq5jbUsGEkMMQHWG5qPBdJUsNARYP4MIQREC3zlu4NxlAyV4LtnyriIYyrWRqh5CHW4x0mK8PN3xFtqkgO6UjKevc5eyGHgDW0o-R6CmxPDMlxJcezWqZ8w/s1600/DSC_1925.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLyxBb-GYZsDc_8gLoq5jbUsGEkMMQHWG5qPBdJUsNARYP4MIQREC3zlu4NxlAyV4LtnyriIYyrWRqh5CHW4x0mK8PN3xFtqkgO6UjKevc5eyGHgDW0o-R6CmxPDMlxJcezWqZ8w/s320/DSC_1925.jpg" /></a></div>
<p>
That tour was magic--
I couldn't easily find photos from it, but there's one from T's bday- a couple tours later.
<p>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6oKnR_w2cTD_o7GZrN0KrQpzmr-iloRiDYhUv0a2n_dHGG1xrbVPoOwikhOF9-VW1D2xp0petWK3GTmx8WwwKdzfHCsgMgctRdTz_fUux3suAMhjob4SGCimCsInPjT3N8inNnw/s1600/tori+n'+ben+.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6oKnR_w2cTD_o7GZrN0KrQpzmr-iloRiDYhUv0a2n_dHGG1xrbVPoOwikhOF9-VW1D2xp0petWK3GTmx8WwwKdzfHCsgMgctRdTz_fUux3suAMhjob4SGCimCsInPjT3N8inNnw/s400/tori+n'+ben+.jpg" /></a></div>
<p>
Good homes only, because man, I loved this deep blue hoody.
<p>
Swallowing diamonds means cutting throats sometimes.
<p>
(item #36 in the project, one thing a day out of our little over-stuffed treehouse!)
<p>
as always auction starts at 99 cents, but sorry, I can't offer this one for overseas shipping.
I have already under-estimated most of my shipping costs (and i ship ALL the time, doh!)
and shipping overseas is no guarantee of arrival- at big heavy cost.
<p>
proceeds from this auction will benefit the good cats of AVALO SANCTUARY.
That's where my friend KING LEAR now resides.
<p>
ALSO, i put another one of the Neil mugs up for bids.
<p>
<a href="http://www.ebay.com/itm/a-NEIL-GAIMAN-tea-mug-only-a-few-13-90-/161219034136?_trksid=p2047675.l4066">CLICK HERE FOR EBAY LINK.</a>

<p>
I am finding ALL kinds of treasure in the treehouse archives.
stay tuned!

Did two one-offs with the marvelous band and crew of The Black Keys. I met Colin, my production manager, and I sincerely hope we work together again, what a champ. He got us radios in one phone call, on SuperBowl weekend. That's a trick! The whole team was dreamy. Thanks miss Red, for letting me fill in for you.
<p>
The band played a full set at Roseland, the crowd went wild.
The Roseland, sadly, is slated to be torn down, replaced with a 47-story apartment building.

The crew here told me Lady Gaga will be the last to perform, at this legendary spot. I am sad to see it go.
Have done numerous shows here over the years, so many memories, right across from the dreaded Letterman load in.
<p>
Being in NYC during SuperBowl was a trip. I walked down the street and took a wrong turn right into a giant sea of football fans, I accidentally got into the Times Square of it all!
<p>
At the Howard Stern load in, there were so many old friends, guys I haven't toured with for years.
At one point, I turned to my left and was elbow to elbow with a still-stunning Steven Tyler. My childhood passed before my eyes--
<p>

We could use our laminates to get into the Foos show on the pier, but I was so tired from walking (upper west side to lower east side) I lagged. Sometimes, you just can't do it all.
<p>
I did sneak in a quick visit to my favorite bar in the city:

<p>
This is the actual version that Burton had tattooed on his back, the color scheme that David chose & illustrated for him. A skin friendly script written by Neil Gaiman.
<p>
<a href="http://s24.photobucket.com/user/kitty-9thlife/media/burton_zpsfd1a2d38.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c32/kitty-9thlife/burton_zpsfd1a2d38.jpg" border="0" alt="burton photo burton_zpsfd1a2d38.jpg"/></a>
<p>
They are a hand-numbered, limited edition of 500. a dreamy hand pulled print run in 11" x 17" full color, the design really pops at this size. David has even numbers, we have odd. A Libra split! A Valentine's arrow in to the heart.
<p>
Printed right here in Hollywood, California. These are offered unsigned and will be $25.00 until Feb 4 midnight PST, when they will go up to $38.00.

By the way, to track down these travelling men, it's a full-time job-- that's why they are unsigned at this time.

<p>
A PORTION OF EACH PRINT PRICE WILL GO TO BENEFIT THE GAIMAN FOUNDATION.
<p>
in 2012, Neil and his lovely daughter Holly started a program to benefit those championing the written word.
The foundation supports freedom of speech, and literary education, generally doing good where it can.
The CBLDF is one place they are directing their funds, we are all working together.
<p>
here is the entire text of the beautiful poem Neil composed:
<p>
I will write in words of fire.
<p>
I will write them on your skin.
<p>
I will write about desire.
<p>
Write beginnings, write of sin.
<p>
You're the book I love the best,
<p>
your skin only holds my truth,
<p>
you will be a palimpsest
<p>
lines of age rewriting youth.
<p>
You will not burn upon the pyre.
<p>
Or be buried on the shelf.
<p>
You're my letter to desire:
<p>
And you'll never read yourself<p>
I will trace each word and comma
<p>
As the final dusk descends,
<p>
You're my tale of dreams and drama,
<p>
Let us find out how it ends.
<p>

a two part GODSMACK tour swag package over on
<a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=161208407365"> EBAY, click here.</a>
<p>
My first tour was the mighty Boston-based Godsmack on a bill with the Deftones back in 2001.
<p>
We were out on 9/11 and that brought about the end of our tour.
<p>
Am putting up for auction a two-pack of embroidered goodness:
<p>
1. a 2001 tour swag shoulder bag with about a zillion pockets, never used.
<p>
2. a Dickies-brand work jacket with two pockets and two lovely embroidered logos, this one was from the 2006 tour Godsmack/Rob Zombie. it is a size small, and I wore it proudly.
<p>
Sully! What a sweetheart. I believe in a voice like that. One of my favorite tours, and in fact, the tour I met my beloved roadie husband and dear friend Red.
<p>
i'll throw in an old pass and setlist if i can find...
<p>
this auction is only available in the States, because it's going be a heavy send.
starts at 99 cents, as all my auctions will.
<p>

I fell in love with the terrific attention to detail and the turn of phrase that the translation from Japanese to English often brought. I studied Mandarin in college but that sure didn't help me here...

I used to have a little shop in Baltimore, right down by the water in Fells Point.
It was called 9th Life and it's how I put myself through college without student loans.
<p>
Many of my friends were artists, I would sell their pieces there- I scoured thrift shops back when you could really find treasures.
<p>
Homicide:Life on the Street was filmed right across the street and there was many a joke centered on "Homicide: Life without parking" because production could take up everything. Many of my friends worked in the union in Baltimore on the different shows and films being shot in and around Charm City and once they were going to film in my shop, but it was deemed "really too small"-- and it was.
Here's me on my birthday one year:
<p>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTmVJ_Iib64sLepfnj0Jw3bxuiLlfvcxCqbzrcfzQqSmfccsJSBIF_XfrxO7lo0m_KVw2hnMuvGYJ-pJyEQdHtvL9kSfDy3ITGxu2dVX5cKOB-gN0JQ52ezwnFyMGc0mf3JX8a0g/s1600/9thlife.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTmVJ_Iib64sLepfnj0Jw3bxuiLlfvcxCqbzrcfzQqSmfccsJSBIF_XfrxO7lo0m_KVw2hnMuvGYJ-pJyEQdHtvL9kSfDy3ITGxu2dVX5cKOB-gN0JQ52ezwnFyMGc0mf3JX8a0g/s320/9thlife.jpg" /></a></div>
<p>
anyway, I used to go up to NYC every month on buying trips, and would hit the wholesale markets, looking for sparkly fun treasure on the cheap. Yesterday I opened a box of things from the store.
My item 18 is a little pack of New York City street sparkles:
<p>
a pair of wooden and rhinestone hairsticks, a sheet of eye-glitters.
and since Husband is off in Sacramento lighting a Jesus convention, in his honor, i added this 3D Jesus & Mary keychain to the pile. (if you've ever seen Husband, they may think he IS Jesus)

*a batch of barrettes on cards that I would print up with whatever words were on my mind at the time.

i will pick a winner in the morning.
<p>Will ship off to anywhere on this big planet!
ps. Thanks to @spacedlaw for donating the dollar amount of her auction win of the Neil mug to save the kitties at @AvaloCats.

WOW, it's been a busy couple of days, good busy, but busy.
<p>
playing catch up here with two items (which will be one auction).
<p>
ah, miss Tori Amos, how you have set the course of my life on a royal-flush mission. It was on her tour, that I got to meet mister Neil Gaiman, back in 2003.
<p>
I was lucky enough to tour with Tori on three different runs.
<p>
Every night, different magic.
<p>
The first tshirt is from a tour i was not actually on, but I did go see the show in Boston at the beautiful Wang Theatre, Rufus Wainwright opened, oh man. It is a 100% cotton size large, with the tour dates on the back.
<p>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDtPoJgpRBUrl1QvrcNP8vR8l6zojML47bYGPwIQP-hzptjQoJ5d-2ps4a_ddHtqfTWRfyvzlS-_FveY7c237HaQAAVBdj_0-Aac7R0gN8Is9v56BVFx2FSqBQBQoNXS6GAV-neQ/s1600/tori1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDtPoJgpRBUrl1QvrcNP8vR8l6zojML47bYGPwIQP-hzptjQoJ5d-2ps4a_ddHtqfTWRfyvzlS-_FveY7c237HaQAAVBdj_0-Aac7R0gN8Is9v56BVFx2FSqBQBQoNXS6GAV-neQ/s320/tori1.JPG" /></a></div>
<p>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkGrLaReA51P5_C835QYF_HwBJJg44iwH8lo7dycxFf4h5ruEaRfx63zyDnqE3VWCWlt-WovLAL9qj8GA8tp2xk7Yspc9VxwhV0Y-6_1Cw-h8IQMgzcwpVBf1w3HfARRRkGSTcKA/s1600/tori3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkGrLaReA51P5_C835QYF_HwBJJg44iwH8lo7dycxFf4h5ruEaRfx63zyDnqE3VWCWlt-WovLAL9qj8GA8tp2xk7Yspc9VxwhV0Y-6_1Cw-h8IQMgzcwpVBf1w3HfARRRkGSTcKA/s320/tori3.JPG" /></a></div>
<p>
I started touring with T in 2002, did the Scarlet's Walk tour and the 2003 Lottapianos with Ben Folds and then The Beekeeper tour in 2005-- such a terrific crew on that tour. I even got one of my stories published in the epic Tori tribute book: COMIC BOOK TATTOO edited by Rantz Hoseley, you can read my account of it <a href="http://furrytiger.blogspot.com/2008/06/tori-comic-book-tattoo-out-july-23-2008.html?showComment=1290532469737"> HERE.</a>
<p>
The second tshirt (size XL 100% cotton) is one that we handed out to the local crews every night after they finished loading us back in the trucks for the haul to the next city on the tour. I part with this one a bit sadly, these were never available for sale, only given out... but that is what this is all about, right? Making room for more magic in my life.
<p>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtFmuvs84_EFMBOytCJneF1ObRu36Saki6-ebZSzeHx0taRLdZXdZgiuKkf3ROrUcblzS7CBO496i_PnNjDVPK4iVdcXc9kNdKbcOfjG-l-5xbzew9C5hBD3Q44htDIgHMB1_3dQ/s1600/tori2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtFmuvs84_EFMBOytCJneF1ObRu36Saki6-ebZSzeHx0taRLdZXdZgiuKkf3ROrUcblzS7CBO496i_PnNjDVPK4iVdcXc9kNdKbcOfjG-l-5xbzew9C5hBD3Q44htDIgHMB1_3dQ/s320/tori2.JPG" /></a></div>

happy Saturday, today is going to be busy busy busy, so i thought I would knock two out of the park.
I am giving away some tour memories.
An all black 100% cotton (bootleg) Zombie/Megadeth tee in size XXL.
<p> This tour was the absolute most fun!
Lacuna Coil was our opener and i would make sure to be out in front for the Mustaine/Cristina duet on Le Tous Le Monde,
EVERY NIGHT. chills...<p>

<p>
I think i like the spooky back better than the front...
Throwing in a tour sticky pass, which allows no access to anything. That thing is long over!
<p>
All you have to do to enter to win is tell me your favorite live show ever seen. Please put in the comments, it's the only way I can keep track of anything at present.
<p> You can link to a blog about your favorite show, that's fine, be creative, it can go on any of the three blogs Furrytiger, Neverwear or Swallowing Diamonds. Soon, I'll be streamlining, but it's still a new little baby project. Needs training wheels...
<p>
Second thing already has a home, in fact.
<p>
I got an email from a hopeful Neverwear customer who said that the site still had an option to send to Yugoslavia, but no option for the recently independant Montenegro. I love political change! So as we update the site, our fine WebGoblin DanGuy is working on this. (@Danguyf on twitter) I told our Montenegran friend that I would send him his tshirt free if he would make a charitable donation to an animal shelter somewhere-- yeah!
<p>
<p> so-- winners of #8 and #9 items,
the two signed-by-Neil Gaiman OCEAN cards:
<p>
<blockquote>"I lived in books more than I lived anywhere else."</blockquote> from Raquel Moritz
<p>
<blockquote>"Words save our lives, sometimes."</blockquote> from Donna Blitzen
<p>
PLUS! Third runner up: (prize to be determined)
<blockquote>“All monsters are scared. That's why they're monsters.”</blockquote> from Vampi
<p>
LAST THING:
**the Linkin Park hat was won by Adrienne Hill, but I need an address to ship to. <p>
(winners, please email me: neverwear@gaiman.net)
<p>
Happy January to you all.

Offers to buy all my beads outright, etc.
<p>

<p>
so, back to the beads:I put myself through college by making jewelry, thank goodness as now, I have no student loans!
<p>
The upshot is that I have LOADS of beads to get rid of, as I just don't have time to make the jewels so much these days.
<p>
From my travels, I have picked up charms and beads at flea markets, vintage shops, thrift shops, yard sales, bead shops, the world wide.
<p>
Some pieces I can't recall where I got, but I have made a little list to describe as best as I can.
<p>
as always, the auction starts at 99 cents.

I admit it.
<p>
I also admit I am fairly picky about what vessel I use for my hot beverages.
<p>
My favorite combo is dark on the outside and light on the inside, I believe it's so i can see if the mug is dirty or not. This one fills the bill perfectly, as my other condition is that it is big enough for my required quantity of said hot liquid.

<p>
We made these up for Christmas gifts this year and I have a few left over.
This is a part of my "swallowing diamonds" project, of getting one thing a day out of the treehouse. So far, so good!
<p>
If this one does well, we may add it to the Neverwear line. <a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=161194266270"> Click here for the link to our ebay auction.</a>
<p>
It's a quote from Neil Gaiman's amazing University of the Arts commencement speech from May 2012, which is up on line <a href="http://www.uarts.edu/neil-gaiman-keynote-address-2012">HERE.</a>
<p>
In his speech, he advises that no matter what happens, make art out of the situation.
And in making art, when mistakes are made, all the better.
He describes a moment when he misspelled "Caroline" while typing, and that's how he came up with the title of his wonderful "CORALINE" book.
<p>
In fact, I made a conscious "*mistake" on this mug, as i couldn't fit the actual quote from NG, too many letters for the printer to wrap, so had to improvise, as much as I don't like to do that, I believe it contains the essence of his brilliant message, which is to take chances and be unafraid to do so.
<p>
to quote Queen:
<blockquote>"...and bad mistakes, I've made a few..."</blockquote>
<p>
This little reminder while I drink my morning tea makes me present and accountable.
( *editor's note: mug also works really well for coffee, but I have never seen Mr. Gaiman drink the stuff. He's a British tea man, more often he drinks green tea these days)
<p>
*I will throw in some chocolate dragon coins to sweeten the deal.
they come in this little golden pouch which will be nestled in your new mug:

any questions, put them to me.

I flew out to help him finalize the move out of Boston. Here is a <a href="http://journal.neilgaiman.com/2014/01/moving-day.html"> link to Neil's blogpost on the move.</a>
<p>
I loved handling all the beautiful books there... dreamy.

<p> They represent the perfect little filter on who's judging solely on outer layers...
<p>
<p>a favorite quote from my sweet Dad, when he started seeing tattoos pop up on me:
<blockquote>I'm going to hold you by your ear and dip you in bleach.</blockquote>
<p>
He has since settled down, and he sees them for what they are.
A means to make me happy and to protect me at the same time. How can that be a negative?
<p>
for years, in my kitten hood, i worked tattoo conventions, and so maybe I have more art than the average cat.
it still cracks me up when people say things like, but what will you do when you get older?
Newsflash, friends, who really cares!
<p>I love to read the historical accounts of the ancient rituals of tattooing around the world. Only for those that can commit, my friends.
<p>
Anyway, to my point. This blog/project was meant to do two things at once.
1. get things moving out of the treehouse and into the world, to the people that may appreciate them.
2. to keep me writing a little bit every day, a discipline.
<p>
True, I will be spending quite a bit on postage, but it's an exercise and a resolution. Like I said, discipline, baby.

a lighter that you need to add butane to, adorned with a design by <a href="http://sailorjerry.com"> Sailor Jerry,</a> one of the premier brights in tattoo history.
<p>
i am not sure who is getting the royalty on his art, if it's still in his family, I didn't buy this lighter, it was given to me, on the Tool tour of 2007, by who, I do not recall. Thanks, person! I don't smoke, and Drew is trying to quit, so fire starters of the world, this is for you.
<p>
To take this off my hands, send me pictures of your favorite tattoo here:
furrytiger@gmail.com
<p>
It doesn't have to be your tattoo, but that will be considered extra points.
<p>
No need to send me giant files, those just break the code of internet conduct. 100KB or so, that's just fine.
This is open to worldwide shipping, so get busy. I will close this contest tomorrow at midnight EST.
<p>
Drew and I dreamed up all kinds of fun ways to get these things out into the world, modern geocaching.
Stay tuned, and feel free to give me your ideas. I still haven't ironed out all the kinks.
WORK IN PROGRESS.
<p>
ps. Adrianne Hill, who won the Linkin Park hat, you have a week to get me your address or it goes to the second runner up.
you can message me: furrytiger@gmail.com

<p>
This is a vintage style tee with mister Peter Parker, web slinging on the front, with stars on the 3/4 length sleeves- it's white, even though the photo makes it look a little pink, it's DEFINITELY not though. meh, pink. no.
<p>
Since no size is listed on the shirt, it looks to be a unisex size small-- can stretch to maybe medium, but it's fitted for certain.
<p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjU73wNUgFdIx7SuP_OpOuQUD4eqoqb468WMwWA4Qvw9SwlotfprhBZoG3ZhBnfvmcUBct7rbpqhrMgH-FT-_zEBRZMP2_i4ItsD6x-FDsaGxc8mUL3AL55KQJx40FkK6rsL6pVKQ/s1600/spidey1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjU73wNUgFdIx7SuP_OpOuQUD4eqoqb468WMwWA4Qvw9SwlotfprhBZoG3ZhBnfvmcUBct7rbpqhrMgH-FT-_zEBRZMP2_i4ItsD6x-FDsaGxc8mUL3AL55KQJx40FkK6rsL6pVKQ/s320/spidey1.jpg" /></a></div>
<p>
man, i wish this fit me, i bought it while on tour in Canada, and it never really fit me, so sad...
<p>
Also with this shirt, I throw in one of my glass comic book magnets, where Spiderman is speculating about the mighty X-men.
<p>
I started making these tiny art pieces when I lost a bunch of comics in a flood and couldn't throw them all away. I dried them out and saved a few of my favorite panels. Now people are sending me their damaged comics, i love giving the panels new life. I am making <a href="http://escapepodcomics.com"> Escape Pod Comics</a> a batch of these magnets to sell. They are also selling at the lovely <a href="https://www.facebook.com/RickertandBeagleBooks"> Rickert and Beagle Books in Pittsburgh.</a> woOOOooooOOOoo!
<p>

<p>
I put myself through college by making jewelry, thank goodness I have no student loans!
<p>
The upshot is that I have LOADS of beads to get rid of, as I just don't have time to make the jewels so much these days.
<p>
From my travels, I have picked up charms and beads at flea markets, vintage shops, thrift shops, the world wide.
Some pieces I can't recall where I got, but I have made a little list to describe as best as I can.
<p>

It's time to clean out the treehouse, selling/giving away/re-homing one thing a day for all of 2014.
<p>
First up is a tee from the Motley Crue tour 2005 Carnival of Sins.
THIS ITEM WAS NEVER AVAILABLE FOR SALE.
<p>
This tee was swag from the tour catering company, now no longer in business, Culinary Underground.
It is a men's small 100% cotton American Apparel tank tee, some call 'em wife beaters, but meh, no beating, 'kay guys?
The front has the company logo, and the back has the company name and the tour below. Only a small amount of these were made. Man, i wish this fit me still. Time to let it go!

<p>
for years, Drew has been scouring the petfinder ads, he wanted a kitten.
Not just any kitten.
a Maine Coon kitten!
<p>
apparently NO ONE gives up their Maine Coons.
and now I know why.
<p>
This breed is the most even-tempered affectionate cat I have ever met.
and soooo beautiful.
<p>
Our friends Breck & Laura introduced us to their two super-giant cats,
and gave us the information on where they got them.
We drove out this week to meet Alex, and to meet our little guy, who we pre-named Jonesy,
as the only cat survivor in ALIEN.
Smart lady, she had ALL NINE kittens out.
Of course, we went bonkers, and adopted RIPLEY to go space-exploring with Jonesy.
<p>
here is the first photo she sent of the litter of babies.
<p>
<p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhC_ojL7rh6vjJ2_3TeLB-40T6Cx_MjDsQLznxeJjG7uUdT0yHPtpl3LnrLv1JRom7Y1dmSMA-39OO2kpPAT_JCToft3KINvOd_emG_YHjGzMmmP6XeVz1VS5rdSXXGrPLPS97v/s1600/babies.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhC_ojL7rh6vjJ2_3TeLB-40T6Cx_MjDsQLznxeJjG7uUdT0yHPtpl3LnrLv1JRom7Y1dmSMA-39OO2kpPAT_JCToft3KINvOd_emG_YHjGzMmmP6XeVz1VS5rdSXXGrPLPS97v/s320/babies.jpg" /></a></div>
<p>
COME ON! look at those faces....
<p>
One of the conditions of adoption, is to adhere to a raw meaty bones diet, which we started with Batman & Selina Kyle.
They have taken to it, completely and totally. To see them like tiny tigers, gnawing on their meat, as nature equipped them with the scissor-like back teeth.
<p>
We also got different cat litter, the pine pellets. Much cheaper and now there is a line at the cat box-- they love it!
<p>
so we finally met the kittens and here is Drew holding Jonesy:
<p>
<a href="http://s24.photobucket.com/user/kitty-9thlife/media/1kitty_zps23d7b8a2.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c32/kitty-9thlife/1kitty_zps23d7b8a2.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 1kitty_zps23d7b8a2.jpg"/></a>
<p>here is their cousin Gatling, who is an 8-month old boy who is still growing.
Ripley is sitting on his tail and Jonesy is lying down behind him, all pooped out from playing.
<p>
<a href="http://s24.photobucket.com/user/kitty-9thlife/media/3cats_zps20179bcd.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c32/kitty-9thlife/3cats_zps20179bcd.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 3cats_zps20179bcd.jpg"/></a>
<p>
and here is the sweet girl kitten, such a loud purr machine.
<p>
<a href="http://s24.photobucket.com/user/kitty-9thlife/media/Ripley_zps135d4927.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c32/kitty-9thlife/Ripley_zps135d4927.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo Ripley_zps135d4927.jpg"/></a>
<p>
we are transitioning the house and the other 2 cats for the royal twins arrival,
the adventures are just beginning....
